Lo spettacolo, firmato e prodotto dall’Accademia Musicale Chigiana di Siena, nasce in seno al progetto Chigiana Operlab. L’opera, diretta da Lorenzo Mariani, ha già debuttato a fine luglio al Teatro dei Rinnovati di Siena con il prezioso contributo di William Orlandi alla scenografia e il light designer Fabio Barettin. L’entusiasmo e la vivacità di questo cast giovanissimo, tra cui l’Orchestra Senzaspine, presente al debutto di Siena come formazione in residenza per il corso estivo di alta formazione, travolgerà il Duse di Bologna con uno spettacolo fresco,  colorato, non convenzionale.

Signor Bruschino or the Accidental Son, taken from the comedy "Le fils par Hasard" (1809) by Alissan de Chazet and Maurice Ouryè, belongs to a group of five farces that Gioachino Rossini composed for the Teatro San Moisè in Venice.
The intricate plot recounts the hoax concocted by Florville, who in order to marry his beloved Sofia pretends with her guardian, the old Gaudenzio, that he is the son of Signor Bruschino, to whom he has promised the young woman in marriage. Gaudenzio, who does not know the face of either of the two young men, falls for Florville's deception who, after discovering that the betrothed is kept locked up in an inn because he owes a sum of money to the innkeeper, shows up at the home of Sofia, her accomplice, pretending to be the young groom. When the father Bruschino arrives he obviously does not recognize the face of his presumed son and believes he has gone mad until the moment when the owner of the inn reveals the truth. Florville is then unmasked but although Gaudenzio seems irritated at first, in the end he recognizes the love between the two young men.
