Το αριστούργημα του ανανεωτή της όπερας, Christoph Willibald Gluck, η «Ιφιγένεια εν Ταύροις» παρουσιάζεται σε μία νέα παραγωγή, με ένα εξαιρετικό καστ διακεκριμένων λυρικών καλλιτεχνών, υπό τη διεύθυνση του Γιώργου Πέτρου. Με τη φρέσκια σκηνοθετική ματιά του Θάνου Παπακωνσταντίνου, τα σκηνικά και κοστούμια της Νίκης Ψυχογιού, ο αρχαίος μύθος θα ζωντανέψει στη σκηνή του Ολύμπια μέσα από την έντονα δραματική μουσική του Gluck η οποία αποτυπώνει εύγλωττα την ιδιαίτερη ψυχοσύνθεση των χαρακτήρων του δράματος.
Μια εξωτική τοποθεσία, μια χαμένη αδελφή, ένας τρελός αδελφός, ανθρωποθυσία, αγωνία, κίνδυνος, θεϊκή παρέμβαση: αυτά τα χαρακτηριστικά σίγουρα συνθέτουν μια συναρπαστική τραγωδία. Η όπερα «Ιφιγένεια εν Ταύροις» του Gluck, βασισμένη στην ομότιτλη τραγωδία του Ευριπίδη αφηγείται το σημείο τομής και την κατάληξη των μύθων της Ιφιγένειας και του Ορέστη.

The masterpiece of the renovator of opera, Christoph Willibald Gluck, "Iphigenia en Taurois" is presented in a new production, with an excellent cast of distinguished lyric artists, under the direction of Giorgos Petros. With the fresh directorial vision of Thanos Papakonstantinou, the sets and costumes of Niki Psychogiou, the ancient myth will come to life on the stage of Olympia through Gluck's intensely dramatic music which eloquently captures the special psyche of the drama's characters.
An exotic locale, a lost sister, a mad brother, human sacrifice, anguish, danger, divine intervention: these features certainly add up to a compelling tragedy. The opera "Iphigenia en Taurois" by Gluck, based on the tragedy of the same name by Euripides, tells the intersection and the ending of the myths of Iphigenia and Orestes.
