Figure musicale majeure de la République de Weimar, Schreker est un incontournable de son temps. Auteur d'une œuvre marquée par la morbidité, l'autodestruction et la sexualité qui doit beaucoup à Wagner et brille par la richesse de sa palette musicale, Schreker connaît un succès immense avec Der Der ferne Klang ou Les Stigmatisés. Mais Irrelohe, créé en 1924, l'année de l'incarcération d'Hitler pour son putsch raté, devait être le chant du cygne de celui qui est alors le directeur éminent de l'Ecole supérieure de musique de Berlin. Une fois les Nazis au pouvoir il devient un paria, symbole de l'art dégénéré et de l'internationalisme décadent, qui a également le "tort" d'être juif. Il est en réalité un avant-gardiste qui préfigure, avec 30 ans d'avance, la musique Hollywoodienne des années 50. Spécialiste des compositeurs allemands des années 20 et 30, le metteur en scène David Bösch offre à ce génie injustement réprouvé de l'esprit allemand et à son vénéneux Irrelohe une résurrection à la mesure de sa puissance.

A major musical figure in the Weimar Republic, Schreker is a staple of his time. Author of a work marked by morbidity, self-destruction and sexuality which owes much to Wagner and shines with the richness of his musical palette, Schreker enjoys immense success with Der Der ferne Klang or Les Stigmatisés . But irrelevant, created in 1924, the year of Hitler's incarceration for his failed putsch, was to be the swan song of the man who was then the eminent director of the Superior School of Music in Berlin. Once the Nazis are in power, he becomes a pariah, a symbol of degenerate art and decadent internationalism, who is also "wrong" to be Jewish. He is in fact an avant-garde who foreshadows, 30 years in advance, the Hollywood music of the 1950s. A specialist in German composers of the 1920s and 1930s, director David Bösch offers this unjustly condemned genius of the German spirit and its poisonous Irrelohe a resurrection commensurate with its power.
