Das finale Programm des saisonalenn Dialogs zwischen Beethovens Klavierkonzerten und Béla Bartóks Orchesterwerken stellt zweifellos auch einen der künstlerischen Höhepunkte der gesamten Spielzeit dar. Am Beginn des Programms steht das Zweite Klavierkonzert, chronologisch eigentlich die Nr. 1 und überhaupt das erste größere Orchesterwerk Beethovens. Im Ausdruck noch am Vorbild Haydn und Mozart orientiert, offenbart es durch plötzliche, unerwartete harmonische Wendungen doch schon den Innovationsgeist des Komponisten. Die zweite Hälfte des Programms gehört dann Bartóks einziger Oper. In Herzog Blaubarts Burg verbirgt sich hinter sieben verbotenen Türen ein düsteres Geheimnis, dessen Ergründung einer jungen Frau zum Verhängnis wird. Vertont entlang der ungarischen Sprache, nutzte Bartók diese Entdeckungsreise, um durch die intensive Beschäftigung mit der ungarischen Volks- und Bauernmusik eine neuartige und einzigartige Musiksprache zu entwickeln.

The finale to this season's dialogue between Beethoven's piano concertos and Béla Bartók's orchestral works is undoubtedly one of the artistic high points of the entire season. Opening the programme is the Second Piano Concerto, chronologically actually No. 1 and Beethoven's first large orchestral work in any genre. Still oriented in its expression towards Haydn and Mozart, it reveals the composer's spirit of innovation through sudden, unexpected harmonic shifts. The second half of the concert belongs to Bartók's only opera. In Bluebeard's Castle, a murky secret lies hidden behind seven locked doors and uncovering this secret will be a young woman's undoing. Composed for the Hungarian language, Bartók used this journey of discovery to work intensively with Hungarian folk and peasant music, in the process developing a new and unique musical language.
