With the development of valve technology and the emancipation from the natural series, the trumpet has blossomed from a signal instrument to a veritable singer since the classical period. The Septet op. 65 for trumpet, strings and piano by the French Camille Saint-Saëns, for example, speaks for this, which, like a “carnival of styles”, has many an ironic facet ready. Music by d'Indy and Mozart as well as Mahler's enchanting »Blumine« complete the programme.

Mit der Entwicklung der Ventiltechnik und der Emanzipation von der Naturtonreihe hat die Trompete sich seit der Klassik vom Signalinstrument zum veritablen Sänger gemausert. Dafür spricht beispielsweise das Septett op. 65 für Trompete, Streicher und Klavier des Franzosen Camille Saint-Saëns, das nach Art eines »Karnevals der Stile« manch ironische Facette bereithält. Musik von d'Indy und Mozart sowie Mahlers zauberhafte »Blumine« ergänzen das Programm.
