KBS교향악단 제737회 정기연주회 ‘새 희망을 기다리며, 아듀 2018!’ 스트라빈스키의 <시편교향곡>은 라틴어 성경을 텍스트로 삼아 중세 그레고리안 성가를 연상케 하는 엄숙한 고딕풍의 음악이 인상적이다. 성악과 기악의 절묘한 균형을 통해 간절한 기도와 종교적 명상을 아름답게 조화시키고 있는 작품이다. 베토벤의 <교향곡 제9번> ‘합창’은 교향곡 역사상 가장 위대한 걸작으로 일컬어지는 곡으로, 인류애의 소중한 가치를 노래한 고전 음악의 영원한 기념비이다.

Stravinsky's <Symphony of Psalms> uses the Latin Bible as its text and is impressive in its solemn Gothic style music reminiscent of medieval Gregorian chant. This work beautifully harmonizes earnest prayer and religious meditation through an exquisite balance of vocal and instrumental music. The 'Chorus' of Beethoven's <Symphony No. 9> is said to be the greatest masterpiece in symphony history, and is an eternal monument to classical music that sings the precious value of humanity. This music, which is also Beethoven's last symphony, was composed in 1824 when the 'Viennese system' established by Austria's Metternich began to collapse. Beethoven captured the turbulence and anxiety of that era in music of roaring passion in perfect formal beauty. In particular, Friedrich Schiller's original 'Ode to Joy', in which a large orchestra, four soloists, and a mixed choir sing together in the fourth movement, embodies the utopia of human love through music filled with universal order. “Embrace all mankind! Beethoven’s passionate cry, “Send your kisses to the whole world!” will deliver a huge and profound emotion to everyone who spends the year of 2018.
