The Astrakhan State Opera and Ballet Theater will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Russian Operas in the Astrakhan Kremlin project with a production of M.P. Mussorgsky "Khovanshchina". 

   On March 30, 2022, the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives announced the winners of the second competition for a grant from the President of Russia. More than 9,000 applications from all regions of Russia were submitted for the competition. About 1500 projects became grant holders, including the production of the opera by M.P. Mussorgsky "Khovanshchina".
   Project manager Valery Voronin notes: “History, both ancient and modern, teaches us lessons of wisdom, moral stamina and courage that help us find the right solutions in difficult situations, and by staging this performance, we will attempt to show through art the existing parallels between the historical events of the past and modernity."
   Stage director Konstantin Balakin and stage designer Elena Vershinina will invite the audience to remember the history of the country and the level of the language, where, in a very convoluted form, each word contains a huge set of meanings, experiences and sensations prayed to by millions of people. The concept of the project is aimed at preserving historical memory. 
Khovanshchina is a link in the chain of historical events, which is characterized by a struggle for power, which made it bloody. The aim of the project is to show the invaluable importance of the unity of society, especially at turning points in history. “I am interested in the past in the present,” Mussorgsky wrote in a letter to Stasov while working on the opera. The past in the present will be presented by the commonwealth of opera directors M.P. Mussorgsky "Khovanshchina" on September 2 and 3, 2022 on the Cathedral Square of the Astrakhan Kremlin.

Астраханский государственный театр оперы и балета отметит 10-летие проекта «Русские оперы в Астраханском кремле» постановкой М.П. Мусоргского «Хованщина».

   30 марта 2022 года Президентский фонд культурных инициатив объявил победителей второго конкурса на соискание гранта Президента России. На конкурс было подано более 9000 заявок из всех регионов России. Грантообладателями стали около 1500 проектов, в том числе постановка оперы М.П. Мусоргского «Хованщина».
   Руководитель проекта Валерий Воронин отмечает: «История, как древняя, так и современная, преподает нам уроки мудрости, нравственной стойкости и мужества, которые помогают находить правильные решения в сложных ситуациях, и постановкой этого спектакля мы попытаемся через искусство показать существующее параллели между историческими событиями прошлого и современностью».
   Режиссер-постановщик Константин Балакин и художник-постановщик Елена Вершинина предложат зрителям вспомнить историю страны и уровень языка, где в очень замысловатой форме каждое слово заключает в себе огромный набор смыслов, переживаний и ощущений, которым молятся миллионы людей. Концепция проекта направлена ​​на сохранение исторической памяти.
Хованщина – это звено в цепи исторических событий, для которой характерна борьба за власть, сделавшая ее кровавой. Цель проекта — показать неоценимую важность единства общества, особенно в переломные моменты истории. «Меня интересует прошлое в настоящем», — писал Мусоргский в письме Стасову во время работы над оперой. Прошлое в настоящем представит содружество оперных режиссёров М.П. Мусоргского «Хованщина» 2 и 3 сентября 2022 года на Соборной площади Астраханского кремля.
