The great director Peter Sellars puts his personal artistic stamp on the opera by the Canadian composer Claude Vivier. Kopernikus, the man behind the title of the work, brought about the revolution that changed the way of seeing things. There is no dramatic conflict here, no role, just references to mythology, fairy tales and history; but there is a dream of life and the ceremony that takes place when he is born again after he dies. Kopernikus aspires to complete purification, to a pure state of mind. heavenly melodies. A transition from one form of consciousness to the other in which Vivier's music finds a peace beyond peace.
