Giacomo Puccini's opera La Bohème never fails to overwhelm audiences with its emotional sincerity. The story of the love of Mimì, who is marked by illness, and the unsuccessful poet Rodolfo is so touching not least because Puccini and his librettists do without any ideological superstructure that creates distance: Two young people who fall in love and then separate again is one for all Viewers deeply familiar storyline. But Mimì's much too early death gives this everyday occurrence a tragic dimension of depth, which Puccini expresses so poignantly in his score that the existential meaning of this simple and sad story can be experienced in all its directness. This classic will be staged by Georg Schmiedleitner, who has been artistically connected to the Linzer Landestheater for many years.
