In 2012, the Arriaga Theater offered its own production of “La corte de Faraón”. The success achieved has encouraged us to replace a montage of which we then said:

“Joseph, favorite son of Jacob, his brothers, enriching the meaning of the term “Cainite”, sell him as a slave to the Egyptians. The unfortunate young man ends up in Potifar's house who suffers from severe erectile dysfunction, to the despair of his fiery wife Lota of him. The attempts to calm those ardors with the young slave will endanger his being able to continue calling himself “the chaste José” without missing the truth. With this background, it will be understood why Franco's censorship prohibited this “biblical operetta”.

The Arriaga Theater produces a hilarious production of this zarzuela, which has an excellent score by Vicente Lleó and a libretto by Perrín y Palacios, described in its day as “sycaliptic”. With stage direction by Emilio Sagi and scenery by Daniel Bianco.
