Comic opera premiered in Hamburg in 1725 as an intermezzo for Handel's opera Tamerlano. It was highly successful and paved the way for later intermezzos, such as Pergolesi's La Serva Padrona.

Pimpinone was originally written with texts in German and arias in Italian, it will be performed in its original version, with Spanish subtitles, in response to the Festival's wishes to offer the public productions that are as faithful as possible to the composer's originals. The plot tells the story of old Pimpinone (bass) and his maid Vespetta (soprano), and how she transforms after marrying him to dominate him with his strong character and her scathing nature.

THE LADY OF MONTE CARLO
F.Poulenc

La Dame de Monte Carlo , with a libretto by Jean Cocteau and 8' long, was originally written as a "monologue" for a soprano, but with Poulenc's manifest intention for it to be staged, which is why it has been included in the program by Littleopera.

Great connoisseur of female emotions, and as he did previously in La Voix Humaine, Poulenc re-enters the despair and suicide of a woman, who, on this occasion, cannot bear the passing of the years and loneliness, and, After ruining himself in the casino, he jumps into the Mediterranean.

Ópera cómica estrenada en Hamburgo en 1725 como un intermezzo para la ópera Tamerlano de Handel. Tuvo un gran éxito y marcó el camino para intermezzos posteriores, como La Serva Padrona de Pergolesi.

Pimpinone fue escrita originalmente con textos en alemán y arias en italiano, se representará en su versión original, con subtítulos en castellano, atendiendo a los deseos del Festival de ofrecer al público las producciones lo más fieles posible a las originales del compositor. La trama relata la historia del viejo Pimpinone (bajo) y su criada Vespetta (soprano), y cómo ella se transforma después de casarse con él para dominarlo con su fuerte carácter y su naturaleza mordaz.

La Dame de Montecarlo, con libreto de Jean Cocteau y 8′ de duración, fue escrita originalmente como como «monólogo» para una soprano, pero con la intención manifiesta de Poulenc de que fuera escenificada, motivo por el cual se ha incluido en la programación de Littleopera.

Gran conocedor de las emociones femeninas, y como ya hiciera anteriormente en La Voix Humaine, Poulenc vuelve a entrar en la desesperación y suicidio de una mujer, que, en esta ocasión, no puede soportar el paso de los años y la soledad, y, tras arruinarse en el casino, se tira al mediterraneo.
