A princess as light as a feather: Violeta Cruz's opera "La Princesse Légère", which premiered in 2017, is based on the fairy tale The Light Princess by George MacDonald. Written for children and those with a childlike soul, his stories enchanted JRR Tolkien and Lewis Carroll. The Princess of Light uses humor and poetry to evoke the way in which children are confronted with the heaviness of the adult world and how parents learn to recognize the uniqueness of each child. The score is an outburst of life where electronics meet chanson and operatic sound.
