Pochodzący z Pawii zespół Coro e Orchestra Ghislieri specjalizuje się w wykonywaniu muzyki dawnej. Podczas wrocławskiego koncertu artyści pod dyrekcją Giulia Prandiego zaprezentują dzieła dwóch włoskich twórców epoki baroku. O ile dorobek Antonia Vivaldiego jest powszechnie znany i ceniony, o tyle twórczość Baldassarego Galuppiego jest zdecydowanie mniej rozpoznawalna.

Galuppi przyszedł na świat w Wenecji na wyspie Burano (z tego powodu zwany był czasem „Il Buranello”) i to z tym miastem był najmocniej związany. Przez wiele lat pełnił w nim prestiżowe stanowisko maestro di cappella w Bazylice św. Marka. Koncertował jednak i w tak odległych miejscach jak Londyn, Sankt Petersburg czy Wiedeń, odnosząc sukcesy jako kompozytor operowy oraz wykonawca. Po śmierci twórcy jego dzieła popadły w zapomnienie na blisko dwieście lat. Do łask badaczy, wykonawców i słuchaczy powróciły dopiero pod koniec XX wieku. Obecnie w Galuppim upatruje się jednego z najbardziej interesujących włoskich artystów epoki późnego baroku. Podczas wrocławskiego koncertu Giulio Prandi zadyryguje pełnym dramatyzmu i napięcia dziełem tego kompozytora – Dixit Dominus g-moll, czyli opracowaniem Psalmu 110.

Zabrzmią także dwa utwory Vivaldiego, którego życie zawodowe również związane było z Wenecją. Pierwszym z nich będzie In furore iustissimae irae – motet RV 626 – piękny i bardzo poruszający motet napisany do anonimowego łacińskiego tekstu opowiadającego o niedoskonałości świata pełnego grzechu i nieszczęść. Drugim dziełem będzie jeden z najbardziej znanych utworów religijnych Vivaldiego: pełna radości i energii kompozycja Gloria D-dur RV 589. Druga część tego dzieła (czyli chóralne Et in terra pax) wykorzystana została w ścieżce dźwiękowej filmu Andrieja Konczałowskiego Uciekający pociąg.

The Coro e Orchestra Ghislieri from Pavia specializes in the performance of early music. During the Wrocław concert, artists conducted by Giulio Prandi will present the works of two Italian artists of the Baroque era. While the achievements of Antonio Vivaldi are widely known and appreciated, the work of Baldassari Galuppi is much less recognizable.

Galuppi was born in Venice on the island of Burano (for this reason he was sometimes called "Il Buranello") and it was with this city that he was most strongly associated. For many years he held the prestigious position of maestro di cappella in the Basilica of St. Mark. However, he gave concerts as far away as London, Saint Petersburg and Vienna, achieving success as an opera composer and performer. After the death of the creator, his works fell into oblivion for nearly two hundred years. They returned to the favor of researchers, performers and listeners only at the end of the 20th century. Currently, Galuppi is seen as one of the most interesting Italian artists of the late Baroque era. During the concert in Wrocław, Giulio Prandi will conduct this composer's dramatic and tense work - Dixit Dominus in G minor, i.e. an elaboration of Psalm 110.

We will also hear two works by Vivaldi, whose professional life was also connected with Venice. The first of them will be In furore iustissimae irae - motet RV 626 - a beautiful and very moving motet written to an anonymous Latin text about the imperfection of a world full of sin and misery. The second work will be one of Vivaldi's most famous religious works: Gloria in D major RV 589, full of joy and energy. The second part of this work (the choral Et in terra pax ) was used in the soundtrack of Andrei Konchalovsky's film Runaway Train .
