In the Dortmund Konzerthaus, the focus is on music. But in view of the current political crises, we do not want to leave this concert, created by Israeli artists with an Israeli composer, uncommented. The brutal attack by Hamas against civilians in Israel on October 7th and the associated escalation of the Middle East conflict shocked us deeply. The fact that anti-Semitism has flared up worldwide and violence against Jews has increased should not be indifferent to us and should not be put into perspective. At the same time, our sympathy goes out to all people who are suffering from the Middle East conflict, especially when they are innocently involved. For this reason, together with Lahav Shani and Pinchas Zukerman, we decided to use this concert to send a message against anti-Semitism, hatred and exclusion with a speech by the former President of the Bundestag Norbert Lammert and other short speeches.
