Sir Simon Rattle is a big fan of Johann Sebastian Bach. He showed this many times during his time as chief conductor of the Berliner Philharmoniker with his acclaimed performances of Bach’s Passions. He dedicates this Late Night to the composer’s cantata works – together with Anna Prohaska, whose bright, clear soprano is ideal for Bach’s music, plus countertenor Christopher Ainslie and tenor Patrick Grahl.

When other concert-goers make their way home, this is just the beginning: three times a season, the late-night events offer music after the Philharmonic orchestra concerts - with members of the Berliner Philharmoniker, well-known guests and unusual programs. A series of concerts for night owls and the curious who want to immerse themselves in unknown worlds of sound.
