During his own wedding party, the Postillion Chapelou received an offer that he couldn't refuse: the artistic director of the Royal Opera has heard his voice and predicts a bright future for him as a singer in Paris. He persuades the newlyweds to leave with him on the same day. How does Chapelou's wife Madeleine react? Does the postilion really have a great singing career? And will the bride and groom meet again? - Adolphe Adam's lively opéra-comique was already an international box-office hit shortly after its successful Paris premiere in 1836: The catchy melodies were whistled and the punch lines of the spoken dialogues were told on the streets of European capitals, even Richard Wagner occasionally sang the famous " Postillion song "to himself, when he couldn't sleep at night. With Francesco Demuro in the role of "Hohen-D-Tenor" Chapelou and Monika Buczkowska as Madeleine, this good mood piece can now be rediscovered in Erl.
