Created in just two weeks and staged in Milan in 1832, G. Donizetti's lyric-comic opera "The Potion of Love" was an overwhelming success. An entertaining and witty plot that tells about the relationship of a couple in love; melodic, light and graceful music are the main components, thanks to which this opera is one of the most popular to this day.

The legend of a magic love potion, which migrated from the poem Tristan and Isolde by Gottfried of Strasbourg into the comedy of the French playwright
E. Scribe, based on which Donizetti's opera was written, receives an unexpected parodic interpretation. And this opens up new meanings. It turns out that not a “miracle drink”, but people themselves are able to fill each other with an elixir of kindness and love.

The feelings that embrace the heroes of Donizetti's opera are eternal, like life itself: sympathy, coquetry, rivalry, jealousy. Therefore, the situation of "Love Potion" could have occurred both at the Venetian carnival several centuries ago, and in a modern town.
