A love potion

The comic opera that the great Donizetti composed in just two weeks became one of his most performed works during his author's lifetime, which, along with Lucia di Lammermoor, remains in the repertoire of the world's largest opera houses almost two centuries later.

The love potion was created according to the libretto by Felice Romani, which draws its basic inspiration from the comedy of the French playwright Eugene Scribe, the template for Auber's opera Le Phyltre, which, in turn, was inspired by the medieval romance of Tristan Gottfried von Strassburg. The plot of the medieval legend is moved by Donizetti from the Basque country to his native northern Italy, but the message of his masterpiece remains the same: the love potion told about in ancient legends takes on a completely new meaning and the message that people are very much capable of giving each other love and kindness without the help of any what an elixir.

This epic opera full of impressive, memorable arias was performed under the baton of maestro Mladen Tutavac, directed by Ozren Prohić.

Komična opera koju je veliki Donizetti skladao u samo dva tjedna još je za života svog autora postala jedno od njegovih najizvođenijih djela koje uz Luciu di Lammermoor ni gotovo dva stoljeća kasnije ne silazi s repertoara najvećih svjetskih opernih kuća.

Ljubavni napitak nastao je prema libretu Felicea Romanija koji temeljno nadahnuće crpi iz komedije francuskog dramatičara Eugenea Scribea, predloška za Auberovu operu Le Phyltre koja je, pak, nadahnuta srednjovjekovnom romancom Tristan Gottfrieda von Strassburga. Radnju srednjovjekovne legende Donizetti iz Baskije premješta u rodnu sjevernu Italiju, no poruka njegova remek djela ostaje neizmijenjeno ista: ljubavni napitak o kojem kazuju drevne legende poprima posve novo značenje i poruku da su ljudi itekako u mogućnosti jedni drugima pružiti ljubav i dobrotu i bez pomoći bilo kakvog eliksira.

Ova prpošna opera prepuna dojmljivih, pamtljivih arija zaigrala je pod dirigentskom palicom maestra Mladena Tutavca, u režiji Ozrena Prohića.
