Zweimal stehen junge Menschen im Mittelpunkt, beide
Male suchen diese ihren Weg, sich in der Welt um sie
herum zurechtzufinden und ihre Träume auszuleben. In
Maurice Ravels Einakter L’Enfant et les sortilèges (Das Kind
und der Zauberspuk) ist es ein rebellisches Kind, das keine
Lust hat, seine Hausaufgaben zu erledigen, und in seiner
Fantasie alles um sich herum lebendig werden lässt: von
der chinesischen Teetasse bis hin zur Nachtigall, zum
Eichhörnchen oder zum Feuer im Ofen. Die Titelfigur in
Tschaikowskys Iolanta hingegen ist blind und wird von
ihrem königlichen Vater überbehütet und von der Realität
ferngehalten. Doch wie im Märchen kommt der Traumprinz und das Wunder geschieht: Iolanta gewinnt das
Augenlicht zurück.
Beide Opern sind Meisterwerke, die zu Unrecht
im Schatten der berühmteren Titel der Komponisten
stehen und sich auf erstaunliche und witzige Weise ergänzen: Beide führen vor Augen, dass nicht alle Dinge so selbstverständlich sind, wie es Erwachsene in ihrer rationalen
Art wahrnehmen und planen.
Bereits zu Beginn seiner Karriere inszenierte der
inzwischen international gefragte Regisseur David Bösch
ein Schauspiel in Bern, nun folgt sein erster Berner Opernabend – damals wie heute ist sein Bühnenbildner der
Schweizer Patrick Bannwart.

Young people are the focus twice, both of them
Sometimes they are looking for their way in the world around them
to find their way around and live out their dreams. In
Maurice Ravel's one-act play L'Enfant et les sortilèges (The Child
and the magic spook) it is a rebellious child who does not
feels like doing his homework and in his
Imagination makes everything around you come alive: by
from the Chinese teacup to the nightingale, to
squirrels or to the fire in the oven. The title character in
Tchaikovsky's Iolanta, on the other hand, is blind and is controlled by
overprotected by her royal father and from reality
kept away. But like in the fairy tale, the prince charming comes and the miracle happens: Iolanta wins
sight back.
Both operas are masterpieces, wrongly so
in the shadow of the composers' more famous titles
and complement each other in an amazing and funny way: Both show that not everything is as natural as adults are in their rational way
way of perceiving and planning.
Already at the beginning of his career he staged
now internationally sought-after director David Bösch
a play in Bern, now follows his first Bern opera evening – then as now, his stage designer is the
Swiss Patrick Bannwart.
