April 22nd: Mezzo-soprano Barbara Schöller and baritone Daniel Fiolka set off into the realms of hits and political songs from the 1920s to 1950s. Vero Miller examines Robert Schumann's oeuvre from a political perspective.

The song. Hardly any other musical genre has appeared in such a diverse form over the centuries: as an art song or folk song, as poetry turned into sound, innermost stirrings of the soul or political statement, in simple strophic form or as an expansive ballad ... Reason enough to finish the song itself illuminate different perspectives.

In the Liedersalon, the soloists of the Würzburg Opera Ensemble dedicate themselves to the small and large dramas that are captured in the genre - including dramaturgical cross-references and rarities of the almost limitless repertoire!

Kaum eine andere musikalische Gattung tritt durch die Jahrhunderte hindurch in so vielfältiger Form in Erscheinung: als Kunst- oder Volkslied, als Klang gewordene Poesie innerster Seelenregungen oder politisches Statement, in einfacher Strophenform oder als ausladende Ballade … Grund genug, das Lied an sich einmal aus verschiedenen Perspektiven zu beleuchten.

Im Liedersalon widmen sich Solistinnen und Solisten des Würzburger Opernensembles den kleinen und großen Dramen, die in der Gattung eingefangen sind - dramaturgische Querverweise und Raritäten des schier grenzenlosen Repertoires inklusive!
