Hugo Wolfs »Italienisches Liederbuch« gehört mit seinen zwei Teilen à über 20 Liedern zu den umfangreichsten romantischen Liedzyklen und wird schon allein deshalb selten komplett aufgeführt. Begleitet von Antonio Grimaldi am Klavier, nehmen nun Liudmila Lokaichuk und Christian Henneberg gemeinsam die Herausforderung an, Wolfs Vertonungen volkstümlicher italienischer Liebeslyrik (in deutscher Übertragung von Paul Heyse) in Gänze zu interpretieren. Dabei demonstrieren sie deren ganze Ausdrucksbreite von glücklichem Verliebtsein über Sehnsucht bis hin zu Liebeskummer.

With its two parts of over 20 songs each, Hugo Wolf's »Italian Songbook« is one of the most extensive romantic song cycles and for this reason alone is seldom performed in its entirety. Accompanied by Antonio Grimaldi on the piano, Liudmila Lokaichuk and Christian Henneberg now take on the challenge of interpreting Wolf's settings of popular Italian love poetry (in the German translation by Paul Heyse) in their entirety. In doing so, they demonstrate their entire range of expression, from being happily in love to longing and lovesickness.
