Monteverdi's last stage work was born in 1642, at the dawn of the opera genre. It is customary to mention the music of the seventy-five-year-old master as the first real opera, which was praised by many then and since for its originality, melodicity, and the diverse depiction of the human traits of the characters. It is clear from all this that the modernity of Poppea has not changed over the centuries. The piece will be performed in an unusual form at the Eiffel Workshop: it will be shown in a re-arranged transcription of Máté Bella, commissioned by the Opera and enriched with contemporary musical elements, directed by András Almási-Tóth.

Monteverdi utolsó színpadi műve 1642-ben született, tehát az operaműfaj hajnalán. Szokás az első igazi operaként említeni a hetvenöt éves mester zenéjét, melyet akkor és azóta sokan méltattak eredetisége, dallamossága, valamint a karakterek emberi vonásának sokrétű ábrázolása okán. Mindebből kitűnik, hogy a Poppea korszerűsége mit sem változott az évszázadok során. A darab rendhagyó formában szólal meg az Eiffel Műhelyházban: Bella Máténak az Opera felkérésére készült, újrahangszerelt, kortárs zenei elemekkel dúsított átiratában lesz látható Almási-Tóth András rendezésében.
