L'isola disabitata, Hob.XXVIII:9 (The Desert Island), Haydn
Jaga

The Desert Island by Haydn, Alates (2023/2023), Dirigent Philippe Cassard, Opéra-Théâtre, Clermont-Ferrand, France

With sixteen Italian operas, Joseph Haydn composed as many operas as Mozart! With L'Isola Disabitata , you will meet Costanza and his younger sister Silvia who were abandoned after being shipwrecked on a “deserted island”. After thirteen years, Costanza's husband Gernando and his young friend Enrico land on the island, but their reunion will be delayed by various misunderstandings. The work is concise, rich in colors and expressive nuances that allow the four characters, caught in the turmoil to express a wide range of feelings. As an exceptional pianist was needed for this concert version, the mission was entrusted to Philippe Cassard, an accomplished artist, admirable both for his recitals and for his recordings (more than 30 titles), or even his programs “Family portraits” on France Music. Accustomed to accompanying prestigious lyrical artists since his debut (let us mention the triumph since 2011 of his duo with Natalie Dessay), Philippe Cassard will be in the company of four high-quality singers, three of whom have already performed in Clermont-Ferrand: Ania Wozniak – Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana (2021) and winner of the last Clermont-Ferrand International Singing Competition, Florian Bisbrouck – Haly inThe Italian in Algiers (2020) or in the title role of the Marriage of Figaro (2022), Inès Berlet – Nicklausse in Les Contes d'Hoffmann (2018), and finally Marco Angioloni , laureate of the Royaumont Foundation, from whom you have was able to appreciate the timbre and the stage presence in the roles of Don Basilio/Don Curzio ( The Marriage of Figaro ) in Clermont-Ferrand and on tour in France with Clermont Auvergne Opéra and Opéra Nomade.
