 The Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom by S. Rachmaninoff is one of the pinnacles of Russian sacred music.  Its first performance took place in 1910: “The solemn silence, deep attention, spiritual expression on the faces of the listeners testified that Rachmaninoff’s music had found its way to their hearts,” recalled a contemporary who did not imagine that even a century later the audience would listen to these sounds with those same feelings.

 This evening the Liturgy will be performed by the State Academic Moscow Regional Choir named after A.D.  Kozhevnikov, one of the oldest groups in Russia.  Artistic director and chief conductor - Mykola Azarov.
