Sehnsucht. Ein barockes Pasticcio – Oper Dortmund

The Baroque era was characterized by an exciting dualism: On the one hand, the irrepressible lust for life that goes hand in hand with the longing to make every day the best. On the other hand, the presence of death combined with the awareness of impermanence and the longing for paradise.

The baroque pasticcio invites you on a journey into a life story, mysterious and versatile, sensual and surprising. This scenic kaleidoscope revolving around a man's longings is a questioning of relationships, identities as well as the meaning and goal of life. The combination of the charming and often virtuoso baroque arias creates a thrilling evening in which the dazzling spectrum of emotions is brought to life.

Thanks to the musical stylistic devices of the baroque style of expression, the rich spectrum of human emotions is set in sounds. Longing is expressed in very different emotions, which are picked up sensitively and expressively by the music - often combined with highly virtuoso melody lines that demand the greatest skill from the singers. The focus is on the young Brazilian shooting star Bruno de Sá, whose natural soprano voice is an extraordinarily impressive phenomenon. Only recently, the virtuoso exceptional talent was recognized by the specialist magazine Oper! elected young artist of the year.
