Ludovic Tézier, one of the most acclaimed baritones on the international stage, is#Macbethin the inaugural opera ✨ XX Verdi Festival "Scintille d'Opera" ✨, with Roberto Abbado on the podium of the Toscanini Philharmonic.

*Come spiega Candida Mantica, che ha curato l’edizione critica del testo francese: “L’edizione critica della seconda versione di Macbeth in francese ricostruisce un ‘testo ideale’ che tiene conto delle intenzioni di Verdi e lascia spazio ad autorialità diverse dalla sua solamente nei limiti entro cui siano state da lui autorizzate. Al Festival Verdi sarà eseguita la versione 1865 in lingua francese per la prima volta come si presume Verdi avrebbe voluto fosse eseguita a Parigi, anziché privilegiare a tutti i costi le scelte effettuate per la prima rappresentazione dell’opera. In un caso, però, si è deciso di seguire i materiali esecutivi francesi, sebbene si discostino dal testo verdiano che conosciamo. Subito dopo la scena delle Apparizioni, sarà infatti omessa la parte dell’araldo che annuncia l’ingresso in scena di Lady Macbeth, scelta che è parsa particolarmente efficace in forma di concerto”.

* As Candida Mantica, who edited the critical edition of the French text, explains: "The critical edition of the second version of Macbeth in French reconstructs an 'ideal text' that takes into account Verdi's intentions and leaves room for authorship different from his only within the limits within which they have been authorized by him. At the Verdi Festival the 1865 version in French will be performed for the first time as it is assumed that Verdi would have wished to have been performed in Paris, rather than favoring at all costs the choices made for the first performance of the opera. In one case, however, it was decided to follow the French executive materials, although they differ from the Verdi text we know. Immediately after the scene of the Apparitions, the part of the herald announcing the entry of Lady Macbeth will be omitted,
