Barely four years after Penthesilea , his previous creation, Pascal Dusapin is delivering a new opera, in response to a commission from La Monnaie. With his librettist Frédéric Boyer, he plunges into the darkest regions of the human soul with the help of two characters among the most emblematic of evil in Man: the Macbeth couple. Thomas Jolly, the young French prodigy of the Shakespearian repertoire, signs the staging while Alain Altinoglu deploys the dramatic intensity as well as the vocal and orchestral richness of the score. A gothic opera where the characters are confronted with their spectral reality which comes back to haunt their memory and ours.

Quatre ans à peine après Penthesilea, sa précédente création, Pascal Dusapin livre un nouvel opéra, en réponse à une commande de la Monnaie. Avec son librettiste Frédéric Boyer, il plonge dans les régions les plus sombres de l’âme humaine à l’aide de deux personnages parmi les plus emblématiques du mal chez l’Homme : le couple Macbeth. Thomas Jolly, le jeune prodige français du répertoire shakespearien, signe la mise en scène tandis qu’Alain Altinoglu déploie l’intensité dramatique ainsi que la richesse vocale et orchestrale de la partition. Un opéra gothique où les personnages sont confrontés à leur réalité spectrale qui revient hanter leur mémoire et la notre.
