Gala koncert Matej Meštrović & Friends

Jedan od najsvestranijih hrvatskih umjetnika, pijanist i skladatelj Matej Meštrović priprema pravi glazbeni spektakl – gala koncert Matej Meštrović & Friends u HNK u Zagrebu, koji će se održati u subotu 2. rujna 2023. u 19.30.

Gala koncert će uz Meštrovića okupiti svjetska imena suvremene klasične glazbe te domaće zvijezde. Orkestar HNK vodit će maestro Jonathan Griffith, koji je mnogo puta dirigirao u vodećim koncertnim dvoranama Carnegie Hallu i Lincoln Centru. Upravo je Griffith prvi pružio priliku Meštroviću da nastupi pred punom dvoranom Carnegie Halla.

Na koncertu će nastupiti sjajna flautistica Iris Gross, koja u Zagreb dolazi izravno iz New Yorka kako bi izvela Meštrovićev „Koncert za flautu, klavir i orkestar“, posvećen upravo toj velikoj glazbenici. Osim Iris Gross, na pozornici ćemo imati priliku slušati i Roba Derkea, jazz-saksofonista i pedagoga iz New Yorka, kojeg je magazin „JazzTimes“ proglasio „među najboljim soprano saksofonistima današnjice“.

Maestro Griffith i Iris Gross utemeljitelji su Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY), najveće privatne agencije sa zborom i orkestrom za ozbiljnu glazbu u New Yorku. A svoju virtuoznost na čuvenoj Stradivarijevoj violini publici će predstaviti i najbolji svjetski mladi glazbenik 2015., austrijski violinist i skladatelj  Yury Revich.

Inozemnim gostima pridružit će se i hrvatske glazbene zvijezde svjetskog ugleda. Operna diva Lana Kos svojim će glasom još jedanput oduševiti domaću publiku, pijanistica Kristina Bjelopavlović koja s Meštrovićem surađuje godinama, a ponajbolji bubnjar i udaraljkaš Borna Šercar svojim umijećem dodat će poseban zvuk ovom koncertu. 

Na programu će se naći Meštrovićevi aranžmani, neki od njih pisani posebno za ovaj koncert, a sve u pratnji orkestra Opere HNK Zagreb. Koncert otvara Yury Revich na violini Meštrovićevom skladbom za volinu i orkestar, u kojoj će se Matej Meštrović prvi put u javnosti pojaviti kao dirigent. Od arije iz opere Vespri Siciliani, preko Mozartove Alla Turce, Brahmsa, Vivaldija do Meštrovićeve čuvene Dunavske rapsodije te glazbe za otvorenje Pelješkog mosta, naslovi su koje će publika imati priliku slušati u HNK Zagreb. Moći će čuti i svjetsku praizvedbu Meštrovićeve kompozicije za klavir i orkestar Pleter, koja je nedavno snimljena s London Symphony Orchestrom.

Riječ je o jedinstvenoj i vrhunskoj glazbenoj poslastici, ne samo za profinjene glazbene ukuse nego i za širu publiku.

Gala Concert Matej Meštrović & Friends

One of the most versatile Croatian artists, the pianist and composer Matej Meštrović will prepare a true music spectacle for the beginning of the season – the Gala Concert Matej Meštrović & Friends at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, that will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023.

This Gala Concert along Meštrović will gather global names of contemporary classical music and local stars. The Orchestra of the CNT in Zagreb will be led by maestro Jonathan Griffith, who has, more than 200 times, conducted in leading concert halls such as the Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Centre. It was Griffith who first gave Meštrović the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall.

The brilliant flutist Iris Gross will arrive in Zagreb directly from New York to play Meštrović's Concert for the flute, piano and orchestra that he dedicated to her. Beside Iris Gross, we shall also have the chance to hear Rob Derke, jazz saxophonist and pedagogue from New York that the JazzTimes magazine proclaimed as “one of the best soprano saxophonists of today."

Maestro Griffith and Iris Gross are also the founders of Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY), the largest private agency with a Chorus and Orchestra for serious music in New York. The best young world musician of 2015, Austrian violinist and composer Yuri Revich will present himself and his virtuosity on the famous Stradivari violin.

The international guests will be joined by Crotian music stars of global repute. Opera diva Lana Kos with her voice will once again enchant the local spectators and one of the best drummers and percussionists Borna Šercar will give a special sound to this concert with his artistry.

Scores arranged by Meštrović composed especially for them will be on the program with the accompaniment of the Orchestra of the CNT in Zagreb. The concert will begin with Yury Revich on the violin who will play Mestrović's piece for the violin and orchestra and Matej Meštrović will appear in the role of the conductor for the very first time. Aria from opera Vespri Siciliani, Mozart's Alla Turca, Brahms, Vivaldi, Meštrović's famous Danube Rhapsody, music of the opening of the Pelješac Bridge, are just a part of the program the audience will be able to heat at the CNT in Zagreb. Also, the spectators will be able to hear the world first performance of Meštrović's composition for the piano and orchestra Pleter that was recently recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra.

This will be a unique and excellent music treat, not only for the sophisticated music tastes but also for the wider audience.
