Fritz Löhner-Beda? Never heard! His lyrics were and are on everyone's lips. B. “Of all things bananas”, written for Josephine Baker and also very popular in GDR times, or “In der Bar zum Krokodil”, which he wrote for the Comedian Harmonists. The hit “You black gypsy” was written for Renate Müller, and he dedicated “Your is my whole heart” and “Friends, life is worth living” to his friend Richard Tauber. Franz Lehar set both texts to music in his operettas "The Land of Smiles" and "Giuditta", for which Fritz Löhner-Beda wrote the libretti.

He was what was then called a woman's darling and what would be called a playboy today. He loved partying, the joke, was sporty. Nothing and no one was safe from his joke. Fritz Löhner-Beda became rich. He married a beautiful woman, and because he loved life and had the money, he bought a castle in Bad Ischl for his small family. But then the Nazis came to power in Austria and the chauffeur Löhner-Bedas arrested his boss. He came first to Dachau, then to Buchenwald (where he wrote the lyrics of the Buchenwald song) and finally to Auschwitz. He was murdered there in 1942, his family a little later. Not only himself, but also his memory has been erased. This evening should remember Fritz Löhner-Beda,
