Handel's "Messiah" is perhaps the "hit" of church music, the "Hallelujah" is known everywhere, not just in church. The oratorio not only deals with selected episodes from the life of Jesus, but is a complete account of his life from birth to ascension. Of particular interest is the approach taken by the librettist Charles Jennens, who mainly uses prophetic texts from the Old Testament. However, his compilation of the Bible texts also includes some verses from the New Testament.

On the 3rd of Advent, the Kantorei, in cooperation with the Catholic choir "VOXvitalis" from Cologne, will perform the first part of the "Messiah" in the original English. The performance of the other two parts is planned after Easter 2023.

Händels „Messiah“ ist vielleicht der „Hit“ der Kirchenmusik, das „Halleluja“ ist überall bekannt, nicht nur in der Kirche. Das Oratorium handelt nicht nur von ausgewählten Episoden aus dem Leben Jesus, sondern ist eine vollständige Darstellung seines Lebens von der Geburt bis zur Himmelfahrt. Besonders interessant ist das Vorgehen des Librettisten Charles Jennens, dafür hauptsächlich auf prophetische Texte aus dem Alten Testament zurückzugreifen. Seine Kompilation der Bibeltexte umfasst aber auch einige Verse des Neuen Testaments.

Am 3. Advent führt die Kantorei in Kooperation mit dem katholischen Chor „VOXvitalis“ aus Köln den ersten Teil des „Messiah“ in der Originalsprache Englisch auf. Die Aufführung der anderen zwei Teile ist nach Ostern 2023 geplant.
