The jewel of the festival is a tribute gala for the Greek-American born soprano Maria Callas, celebrating 100 years of her birth. This performance is free and open to the public, taking place at Miaouli Square on July 23, 2023. Maria Callas represents opera and the vocal art form in the country of Greece and is a voice/persona which will never be forgotten. She has been an operatic icon who is known and admired throughout the world. This year, the Festival of the Aegean celebrates her life and music, while honoring her artistry.
