Eine Notlösung - aber was für eine! Um sein Opernunternehmen und sich selbst vor dem Ruin zu retten, setzte Georg Friedrich Händel seit 1732 verstärkt auf Oratorien. "Deborah" ist erst sein zweiter englischer Beitrag zu dieser Gattung und enthält doch schon sämtliche kompositorische Qualitäten: packende Chöre, dramatische Zuspitzungen und eine stimmige Figurenzeichnung. Der Dirigent Nicholas McGegan bringt das lebenspralle Werk zusammen mit der NDR Radiophilharmonie zur Aufführung.

An emergency solution - but what a solution! In order to save his opera company and himself from ruin, Georg Friedrich Handel increasingly focused on oratorios from 1732 onwards. "Deborah" is only his second English contribution to this genre and yet it already contains all the compositional qualities: gripping choirs, dramatic culminations and a harmonious drawing of characters. Conductor Nicholas McGegan will perform the life-packed work together with the NDR Radiophilharmonie.
