Zbor varaždinske katedrale Chorus angelicus djeluje od 1999. godine isprva kao Zbor mladih varaždinske katedrale. S vremenom prerasta u Nigra sum, motetizvođački korpus, koji vezano uz svoju osnovnu zadaću, predvođenje liturgijskog pjevanja na svim važnijim slavljima u varaždinskoj prvostolnici, poseban naglasak stavlja na izvedbu novih liturgijskih skladbi. U svom djelovanju uživa podršku varaždinskih solo pjevača, te instrumentalista, većinom članova Varaždinskog komornog orkestra. U repertoriju zbora nalaze se koncertantne i liturgijske skladbe hrvatskih i svjetskih skladatelja (među ostalim i Faureov i Durufleov Requiem, Vivaldieva Gloria, mise iz razdoblja renesanse, bečke klasike i rane romantike, skladbe Charpentiera, Dupréa, Bernsteina, prve izvedbe hrvatskih prepjeva Muke po Mateju H. Schütza, Mendelssohnovih moteta, i dr.)  Zbor bilježi nekoliko nastupa na Varaždinskim baroknim večerima, a od gostovanja treba istaći ono u Izraelu. Zbor je snimio nekoliko nosača zvuka.

Anđelko Igrec, dirigent

Osnivač i voditelj zbora Chorus angelicus je Anđelko Igrec (Heidelberg, 1968.), orguljaš varaždinske katedrale, koji je nakon školovanja u Hrvatskoj završio  studij orgulja i improvizacije u razredu Hansa Haselböcka na Sveučilištu za glazbu u Beču, na istom sveučilištu i crkvenu kompoziciju u razredu Wolfganga Sausenga, te kompoziciju u razredu Klausa P. Satzlera. Član je Hrvatskog društva skladatelja i Hrvatskog društva crkvenih glazbenika. Orguljaške koncerte održavao je diljem Hrvatske, kao i u susjednim zemljama. Za orguljaški je rad primio više priznanja i nagrada. Anđelko Igrec do sada je objavio sedamdesetak djela orkestralne, komorne, scenske i filmske, te vokalne i vokalno-instrumentalne glazbe. U skladateljskom radu najveće nadahnuće nalazi u Svetom pismu, odnosno biblijskim motivima. Za skladateljski je rad primio niz prestižnih nagrada u Hrvatskoj i Austriji.

 

Hrvatski barokni ansambl najznačajniji je hrvatski ansambl specijaliziran za povijesno vjernu interpretaciju glazbe baroknog razdoblja i bliskih epoha, na originalnim glazbalima i njihovim vjernim replikama. Ansambl je utemeljen 1999. godine i okuplja glazbenike mlađe generacije – instrumentaliste i pjevače, već afirmirane u izvođenu barokne glazbe. Umjetnička voditeljica ansambla je renomirana violinistica Laura Vadjon.

Uz stalne koncertne cikluse od po sedam koncerata u Hrvatskom glazbenom zavodu  s tematski jasno osmišljenim programima, redoviti su gosti brojnih domaćih i stranih festivala.

U svojim programima ansambl često ugošćuje poznate hrvatske i strane soliste i dirigente, eksperte u autentičnom pristupu izvođenja barokne glazbe. Zbog iznimno stručnih, stilski čistih i virtuoznih interpretacija, glazbena ih kritika kao i publika svrstavaju u sam vrh hrvatske glazbene reprodukcije. U programima Hrvatskog baroknog ansambla redovito su zastupljeni i hrvatski kompozitori, odnosno oni koji su djelovali na području Hrvatske.

The Varaždin Cathedral Choir Chorus angelicus has been operating since 1999, initially as the Varaždin Cathedral Youth Choir. Over time, it grew into Nigra sum, a motet performing corps, which, in addition to its basic task of leading liturgical singing at all important celebrations in the Varaždin cathedral, places special emphasis on the performance of new liturgical compositions. In its activities, it enjoys the support of Varaždin solo singers and instrumentalists, mostly members of the Varaždin Chamber Orchestra. The choir's repertoire includes concert and liturgical compositions by Croatian and international composers (among others Faure's and Durufle's Requiem , Vivaldi's Gloria, masses from the period of the Renaissance, Viennese classics and early romanticism, compositions by Charpentier, Dupré, Bernstein, the first performances of the Croatian renditions of the Passion by Matej H. Schütz, Mendelssohn's motets, etc.) highlight the one in Israel. The choir recorded several sound carriers.

Anđelko Igrec , conductor

The founder and leader of the Chorus Angelicus is Anđelko Igrec (Heidelberg, 1968), the organist of the Varaždin Cathedral, who, after studying in Croatia , completed the study of organ and improvisation in the class of Hans Haselböck at the University of Music in Vienna , at the same university, and church composition in the class Wolfgang Sauseng , and a composition in Klaus P. Satzler 's class. He is a member of the Croatian Society of Composers and the Croatian Society of Church Musicians. He held organ concerts all over Croatia, as well as in neighboring countries. He received several recognitions and awards for his organ work. Anđelko Igrec has so far published about seventy works of orchestral, chamber, stage and film music , as well as vocal and vocal-instrumental music. In his work as a composer, he finds the greatest inspiration in the Holy Scriptures, that is, biblical motifs. For his work as a composer, he received a number of prestigious awards in Croatia and Austria.

 

The Croatian Baroque Ensemble is the most important Croatian ensemble specializing in historically faithful interpretation of music from the Baroque period and close epochs, on original musical instruments and their faithful replicas. The ensemble was founded in 1999 and gathers musicians of the younger generation - instrumentalists and singers, already established in the performance of baroque music. The artistic director of the ensemble is the renowned violinist Laura Vadjon.

In addition to constant concert cycles of seven concerts each at the Croatian Music Institute with thematically clearly designed programs, they are regular guests of numerous domestic and foreign festivals.

In its programs, the ensemble often hosts famous Croatian and foreign soloists and conductors, experts in the authentic approach to performing baroque music. Due to their extremely expert, stylistically clean and virtuosic interpretations, music critics and the audience rank them at the very top of Croatian music reproduction. The programs of the Croatian Baroque Ensemble regularly feature Croatian composers, that is, those who worked in Croatia.
