With these concerts, Ryan Bancroft completes his first season as chief conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He does so with a main number close to his heart: Stravinsky's The Firebird – not the often-performed suite but the complete ballet score from 1910. "It's a giant orchestra, and the best version," says Bancroft. 

This also marks a stage in the recordings of Stravinsky's ballets Petrusjka, Eldfågeln and Våroffer – Bancroft's and the Royal Philharmonic's first joint disc recordings. 

It is possible that Lili Boulanger experienced at least one of these Stravinsky ballets, all of which premiered in her hometown of Paris in the early 20th century. Initially we hear Lili Boulanger's D'un matin de printemps – one of the last works the young genius wrote before his untimely death in 1918, at the age of 24. Despite the circumstances, it is bright music with light, playful steps.  

The Åland soprano Sofie Asplund is doubly current at the Concert Hall during the season, both in a romance concert and on this occasion, when she sings arias by Mozart. In recent years, Asplund has received a lot of attention and been praised for several role interpretations on the country's opera stages.

Med dessa konserter fullbordar Ryan Bancroft sin första säsong som chefdirigent för Kungliga Filharmonikerna. Han gör det med ett huvudnummer som står honom nära: Stravinskys Eldfågeln – inte den ofta framföra sviten utan den kompletta balettmusiken från 1910. ”Det är en jätteorkester, och den bästa versionen”, säger Bancroft. 

Det här markerar samtidigt en etapp i inspelningarna av Stravinskys baletter Petrusjka, Eldfågeln och Våroffer – Bancrofts och Kungliga Filharmonikernas första gemensamma skivinspelningar. 

Det är möjligt att Lili Boulanger upplevde åtminstone någon av dessa Stravinsky-baletter, som alla hade sina urpremiärer i hennes hemstad Paris i början av 1900-talet. Inledningsvis hör vi Lili Boulangers D'un matin de printemps – ett av de sista verk det unga geniet skrev före sin alltför tidiga bortgång 1918, vid 24 års ålder. Trots omständigheterna är det ljus musik med lätta, lekfulla steg.  

Den åländska sopranen Sofie Asplund är dubbelt aktuell i Konserthuset under säsongen, både i en romanskonsert och vid det här tillfället, då hon sjunger arior av Mozart. Asplund har på senare år fått stor uppmärksamhet och hyllats för flera rolltolkningar på landets operascener.
