At the same time dark and tragic, serene and luminous, sublime and… interrupted, Mozart's Requiem seems to have been composed for the Basilica, a Mecca of Requiems if ever there was one. Mozart's masterpiece, at the opening of this new edition, is here carried by a leading cast: Elin Rombo is the Susanna of the Marriage of Figaro around the world and one of the distinguished guests of the Salzburg Festival ; Stéphanie d'Oustrac played a memorable Sesto in Mozart's La Clémence de Titus at the Paris Opera and a highly acclaimed Belle Hélène at the Montpellier Opera. Werner Güra is the evangelist who marked our Passion according to Saint Matthew last year at the closing of the Festival, as for John Relyea, after Leporello in the production of Don Giovanni at the Met this spring, he is the guest of the Vienna Opera for the Tales of Hoffmann. Alongside them, the Choeur de Radio France and the Orchester National de France under the direction of one of the most “Mozartian” conductors of his time, the wise and very radiant master, Sir Colin Davis.

A la fois sombre et tragique, serein et lumineux, sublime et… interrompu, le Requiem de Mozart semble avoir été composé pour la Basilique, haut lieu de Requiem s’il en est. Le chef-d’oeuvre de Mozart, en ouverture de cette nouvelle édition, est ici porté par une distribution de premier plan : Elin Rombo est la Susanna des Noces de Figaro du monde entier et l’une des invités de marque du Festival de Salzbourg ; Stéphanie d’Oustrac a campé un mémorable Sesto dans La Clémence de Titus de Mozart de l’Opéra de Paris et une Belle Hélène très acclamée à l’Opéra de Montpellier. Werner Güra est l’évangéliste qui a marqué notre Passion selon Saint-Matthieu l’an dernier en clôture de Festival, quant à John Relyea, après Leporello dans la production de Don Giovanni au Met ce printemps, il est l’invité de l’Opéra de Vienne pour les Contes d’Hoffmann. A leurs côtés, le Chœur de Radio France et l’Orchestre National de France sous la direction de l’un des chefs les plus « mozartiens » de son temps, le sage et très rayonnant maître, Sir Colin Davis.
