Operaens solister er på scenen sammen med Det Kongelige Kapel og Det Kongelige Operakor i Mozarts store messe i c-mol. Oplev også den prisbelønnede komponist Signe Lykkes nye værk til basunstjernen Jesper Busk Sørensen.

I 1781 rejste Mozarts fra Salzburg til Wien – væk fra sin fars og ærkebiskoppens strenge greb. Her giftede Mozart sig i hemmelighed med Constanze uden farens velsignelse. Måske var det for at formilde den utilfredse far, at komponisten i sine breve skrev, at han og Constanze gik en del i kirke, og at han nu havde påbegyndt et sakralt værk.  Det var messen i c-mol, også kaldet ’den store’. Ligesom hans requiem forblev messen et af Mozarts ufuldendte underværker.

Chefdirigent Marie Jacquot dirigerer denne symfoniske sæsonafslutning, der indledes med uropførelsen af et helt nyt værk. ”Med udgangspunkt i basunens mere lyriske og bløde side, bevæger musikken sig ind og ud af et sitrende, pixeleret tonehav, meditative langsomme passager og ustemte pulserende klange som minder om lyden fra et gammelt trædeorgel,” fortæller komponisten Signe Lykke om sit nye værk. Jesper Busk Sørensen konkurrerede sig i 2009, som blot den fjerde dansker i Berliner Filharmonikernes 130-årige historie, ind i basungruppen på en plads, der ikke havde været besat i 8 år.

Marie Jacquot conducts Mozart's unfinished masterpiece. The opera's soloists will share the stage with the Royal Danish Orchestra and the Royal Danish Opera Chorus in Mozart's Great Mass in C minor. Also performed is the award-winning composer Signe Lykke's new work for trombone dedicated to Jesper Busk Sørensen.

In 1781, Mozart left Salzburg for Vienna – escaping from the oppressive oversight of his father and the archbishop. Here, Mozart secretly married Constanze without his father's blessing. Perhaps to appease his disgruntled father, the composer wrote in his letters that he and Constanze were attending church regularly and that he had begun a sacred musical work. This was the Great Mass in C minor. Like his Requiem, the Mass remained one of Mozart's unfinished masterpieces.

Chief conductor Marie Jacquot directs this symphonic season’s finale, beginning with the world premiere of an entirely new work. "With a focus on the trombone's more lyrical and gentle side, the music moves in and out of a shimmering, pixelated sea of tones, meditative slow passages and detuned pulsating sounds reminiscent of the sound from an old pump organ," says composer Signe Lykke about her new work. In 2009, Jesper Busk Sørensen became just the fourth Dane in the 130-year history of the Berlin Philharmonic to join the trombone section, filling a position that had been vacant for 8 years.
