Bel canto, hielo que quema

Poder, opresión, traición, exilio, amor imposible, conflicto religioso y lucha de civilizaciones. He aquí uno de esos frecuentes episodios líricos en los que una historia actual en el momento de su estreno, nos es contada metafóricamente mediante el velo de una trasposición histórica. En Jerusalem y Babilonia, en el siglo VI a.C. y en las asociaciones que estableció el público entre el calvario del pueblo judío y las reivindicaciones nacionalistas de la Italia de 1842, encontraron los italianos la ópera que, en ese momento, necesitaban para clamar contra la opresión extranjera en la que vivían.

Esa ópera fue Nabucco, un encargo accidental y recibido a regañadientes que se convirtió en un gozne fundamental para el devenir de G. Verdi, porque reactivó su ánimo compositivo -Verdi había perdido a su esposa y dos hijos- e iniciar con ella los llamados “años de galera”, ese periodo de éxitos encadenados y trabajo compulsivo que le llevó a cumplir el hito de escribir 17 óperas en 12 años. El ascenso de Verdi arranca, pues, en Nabucco, un dramma lirico en cuatro partes que brota en la obertura con una fuerza desconocida para la época y se despliega hasta el final con deslumbrantes desarrollos melódicos, un arrebatador crescendo dramático, una avanzada definición psicológica de los personajes y un coro esculpido como un elemento más de la acción. Una ópera impactante llena de momentos inolvidables.

En seis funciones con doble reparto marcadamente latino en los que sobresalen el barítono Juan Jesús Rodríguez y la soprano María José Siri, además de Simón Orfila, el Maestranza presenta una nueva producción propia con teatros internacionales con dirección escénica de Christiane Jatahy y musical de Francesco Ivan Ciampa al frente de la ROSS y el Coro Teatro de la Maestranza.

Bel canto, ice that burns

Power, oppression, betrayal, exile, impossible love, religious conflict and the struggle of civilizations. Here is one of those frequent lyrical episodes in which a current story at the time of its premiere is metaphorically told to us through the veil of a historical transposition. In Jerusalem and Babylon, in the 6th century BC, and in the associations established by the public between the ordeal of the Jewish people and the nationalist demands of the Italy of 1842, the Italians found the opera that, at that time, they needed to cry out against the foreign oppression in which they lived.

That opera was Nabucco , an accidental and reluctantly received commission that became a fundamental hinge for the future of G. Verdi, because it reactivated his compositional spirit -Verdi had lost his wife and two children- and began with it the so-called " galley years”, that period of chained successes and compulsive work that led him to meet the milestone of writing 17 operas in 12 years. Verdi's rise begins, then, in Nabucco , a lyrical dramain four parts that springs from the overture with a force unknown for the time and unfolds to the end with dazzling melodic developments, a captivating dramatic crescendo, an advanced psychological definition of the characters and a sculpted chorus as one more element of the action. A shocking opera full of unforgettable moments.

In six performances with a markedly Latin double cast, in which the baritone Juan Jesús Rodríguez and the soprano María José Siri stand out, as well as Simón Orfila, the Maestranza presents a new own production with international theaters with stage direction by Christiane Jatahy and a musical by Francesco Ivan Ciampa in front of the ROSS and the Maestranza Theater Choir.
