The soirée with soloists from the Semperoper and under the musical direction of Johannes Wulff-Woesten is reminiscent of the rich work of the Dresden composer, pianist and conductor Paul Aron (1886-1955) and his environment. In his concert series “Neue Musik Paul Aron” from 1921-30, Paul Aron performed more than 200 works by contemporary composers in his hometown alone; forced emigration followed in 1933. And so the program not only includes works by Paul Aron, such as "In Memoriam" - Three Songs based on poems by William Butler Yeats or his settings of Hermann Hesse's poems "Four Autumn Songs", but above all also works by his contemporaries such as the "Jazzettes for Violin and piano” by Louis Gruenberg, chansons by Mischa Spoliansky and by Wilhelm Grosz “jazz band for violin and piano”. The musicologist Dr. As with “A Tiny Tear,” Agata Schindler knowledgeably guides through the program and sheds light on a forgotten chapter of Dresden’s rich musical history.
