An evening to celebrate and begin a new season. The Cleveland Orchestra performs together again, onstage in the Jack, Joseph, and Morton Mandel Concert Hall at Severance for the first time since March 2020, presenting a special concert filled with sonority and meaning.

Cleveland favorite cellist Alisa Weilerstein offers a Cleveland Orchestra premiere by one of today’s most significant musical creators, American composer Joan Tower. The program begins with a chilling tone poem by Richard Strauss and ends with Prokofiev’s most popular symphony — conveying appreciation for the small, simple comforts of everyday life, composed in 1944 as World War II had finally turned in the Allies’ favor.
