GELUKKIG NIEUWJAAR! 

Het Belgian National Orchestra trakteert op een spetterend nieuwjaarsconcert onder leiding van chef-dirigent Antony Hermus. Hij zet 2024 in met werken die feestelijk vooruitblikken op het jaar dat komt. Naar aloude gewoonte wordt het concert afgesloten met de bekende Radetzkymars van Johann Strauss Senior.

Verkleedpartijen, bovenmatig eten en drinken, het dragen van maskers … daarmee loopt de winter tijdens carnaval in de maand februari ten einde. Een ideale gelegenheid om de ouverture tot Die Fledermaus uit te voeren, een meesterwerk van de walsenkoning Johann Strauss Junior en misschien wel de meest beroemde operette aller tijden. In de maand maart laat het ontwaken van de lente de gevoelens hoog oplaaien, net zoals in Mascagni’s opera Cavalleria rusticana. Daaruit wordt het hartverscheurende intermezzo gespeeld.

’s Zomers geuren de Rosen aus dem Süden, verklankt door de gelijknamige concertwals van Johann Strauss Junior, de componist die in dit feestelijke nieuwjaarsconcert centraal staat. De zomer is echter zo voorbij en de winter klopt alweer aan de deur. Op de tonen van de Bloemenwals van Tchaikovsky, een fragment uit zijn ballet De notenkraker, wordt de kerstboom terug opgezet.

Le Belgian National Orchestra propose un concert du Nouvel An éblouissant sous la direction du chef d’orchestre Antony Hermus. Il donne le coup d’envoi de 2024 avec des oeuvres qui évoquent de manière festive l’année à venir. Comme le veut la tradition, le concert se terminera par la célèbre Marche de Radetzky de Johann Strauss père.

Se déguiser, manger et boire à l’excès, porter des masques... c’est ainsi que l’hiver prend fin pendant le carnaval, au mois de février. Une occasion idéale pour interpréter l’ouverture de Die Fledermaus, chefd’oeuvre du roi de la valse Johann Strauss Junior et peut-être l’opérette la plus célèbre de tous les temps. En mars, la venue du printemps fait naître les sentiments, comme dans l’opéra Cavalleria rusticana de Mascagni. C’est à partir de là qu’est joué l’interlude déchirant.

En été, la Rosen aus dem Süden fait vibrer la valse de concert éponyme de Johann Strauss Junior, le compositeur au centre de ce concert festif du Nouvel An. Mais l’été est bientôt terminé et l’hiver frappe déjà à la porte. Au son de la Valse des fleurs de Tchaikovski, un extrait de son ballet Casse-Noisette, l’arbre de Noël est redressé.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The Belgian National Orchestra presents a dazzling New Year’s concert conducted by chief conductor Antony Hermus. He kicks off 2024 with works that festively look ahead to the year to come. In time-honoured fashion, the concert will conclude with Johann Strauss Senior’s famous Radetzky March.

Dressing up, excessive eating and drinking, wearing masks ... with these, winter comes to an end during Carnival in the month of February. An ideal opportunity to perform the overture to Die Fledermaus, a masterpiece by the waltz king Johann Strauss Junior and perhaps the most famous operetta of all time. In March, the awakening of spring makes feelings run high, as they do in Mascagni’s opera Cavalleria rusticana. From that, the heartbreaking interlude is played.

In summer, the Rosen aus dem Süden are fragrant, rendered by the eponymous concert waltz by Johann Strauss Junior, the composer at the centre of this festive New Year’s concert. However, summer is soon over and winter is already knocking at the door. To the tones of Tchaikovsky’s Flower Waltz, an excerpt from his ballet The Nutcracker, the Christmas tree is put back up.
