Of all the roles of romantic bel canto, that of Norma is reputed to be one of the most demanding, requiring exceptional qualities on the part of its interpreter. Abandoned at the beginning of the 20th century, it was Maria Callas who brought it out of relative oblivion and made its cavatina a signature aria, going so far as to proclaim: “Bellini composed Norma for me. Since then, the greatest performers have taken it up. It is Karine Deshayes' turn to perpetuate this heritage in a new show by Marie-Eve Signeyrole directed by Andrea Sanguineti.

De tous les rôles du bel canto romantique, celui de Norma est réputé comme l’un des plus exigeants, nécessitant de la part de son interprète des qualités exceptionnelles. Délaissé au début du XXe siècle, c’est Maria Callas qui le sort de son oubli relatif et fait de sa cavatine un air signature, allant jusqu’à proclamer : « Bellini a composé Norma pour moi. » Depuis, les plus grandes interprètes s’en sont emparées. C’est au tour de Karine Deshayes de perpétuer cet héritage dans un nouveau spectacle de Marie-Eve Signeyrole dirigé par Andrea Sanguineti.
