The year 2022 is the jubilee year of the Glasbena matica cultural association, which is celebrating its venerable 150 years of operation. The successes of the society, once the center of Slovene musical life, significantly contributed to the reputation of the Slovene nation and its establishment and art. The establishment of the Mixed Choir in 1891 was crucial for the final establishment of the Musical Mother, which had already established a system of music education and its own publishing activity in the first two decades of its existence. the development of Slovene musical culture and the expansion of Slovene choral singing.
It was the mother choir that carried the Slovene song across the borders of the homeland; his first resounding tour abroad inspired the program image of the opening concert of this year's 36th Slovenian Music Days: to remember the initial successes with part of the program. After the devastating earthquake in Ljubljana in 1895, the native singers prepared two magnificent events in Vienna, the capital of the monarchy, as a token of gratitude for their help - they performed in the famous Musikverein on March 23 and 25, 1896. : 189 singers in national costumes warmed up the audience with, among other things, today's popular madrigal by Jacobus Gallus , sang several folk songs in the musical disguise of the choir's longtime leader Matej Hubadand proved his vocal breadth with his time one of the most powerful vocal-instrumental compositions, the joyful praise of Anton Bruckner .
The program of historical moves in the spirit of the present is thoughtfully complemented by custom-made novelties by two composers of the younger generation. Internationally renowned Nana Forte is resolutely expanding her oeuvre from the proven field of choral music to the field of vocal-instrumental composition., once one of the most important Slovenian composers, who eloquently intertwined the original combination of neoclassical objectivity and expressionist subjectivism with folk music creativity.
The majesty of the concert program will be recreated by former students of the Ljubljana Academy of Music, and today renowned Slovenian soloists Mojca Bitenc Križaj , Nuška Drašček , Martin Sušnik and Peter Martinčič , choirs of Glasbena matica and the Academy of Music conducted by Sebastjan Vrhovnik and Alenka Podpečan and the Academy Symphony Orchestra under the baton of the versatile Simon Dvoršak .
