Detlev Glanert and his librettist Hans-Ulrich Treichel subtitle their work, which premiered in 2019 at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, as a "summer piece for music in two acts". It stands in the tradition of the «Stranger Woman from the Sea», which inspired compositions, paintings and novellas in the 19th century, including Theodor Fontane's fragment Oceane by Parceval . Here, however, without anything fantastic or fairy tale-like, but rather as a radical social psychogram of a woman who desperately tries to be a part. But fails.
