Celebrate an unforgettable ball night with the artists of the State Opera, dance to the sounds of the Lower Saxony State Orchestra and various bands. Let yourself be enchanted by the unique ambience in the opera house. And above all - let yourself be surprised: by music, passion and the unexpected! The biggest event of the northern German ball season – back at the Hanover State Opera after a three-year break.

“When I composed the song at nineteen, I had never kissed; it was all a product of my imagination,” said Consuelo Velázquez – the Mexican composer of Bésame mucho- in an interview. So one of the most sensual songs in music history is said to have sprung from a pious wish? The Opernball 2023 team wants to believe this story and follows the Mexican to her home country...
Inspired by Central and South American culture, Marvin Ott creates a colorful southern atmosphere in the opera house that exudes joie de vivre. Whether it's a Latin American marketplace, a coffee house or a tavern - the highlights of the architecture and their beauty are staged with a unique, modern touch using colorful patterns that create illusions. Exotic flower compositions and the feeling of botanical gardens, combined with modern lighting design, will accompany guests through the night. From the central ballroom to multidimensional photo stations to the party dance floor - no wishes remain unfulfilled at the Opera Ball 2023!

After a festive opening with the Lower Saxony State Orchestra, members of the opera ensemble, the debutants of the Bothe dance school and a very special guest, there are various places in the opera house where you can dance. The Lower Saxony State Orchestra, the Thilo Wolf Big Band and the Casino Royale party band play in the large ballroom, the South and Central American rhythms of Cuba Vista ring out in the Lavesfoyer, and the Marschnersaal is transformed into a hip club later in the evening with DJ Demir Cesar. In an extensive entertainment program, ball visitors can put their own kissing skills to the test or compete with drag queen Gisela Kloppke in a lip-sync battle. At midnight there will be a very special surprise...
