Wir fiebern der Premiere unserer Operette PAGANINI entgegen. Darin begegnen euch gleich mehrere Promis ihrer Zeit, und deshalb haben wir uns für euch mal ein wenig in den lokalen Boulevardmedien im Fürstentum Lucca umgehört. Princess Anna Elisa 's head is spinning. A few months ago she overheard this charming devil's violinist at the village festival, and now he is a permanent guest in her bedroom: Niccolò Paganini, who leaves behind incredulous listeners and languishing women's hearts after every performance and, despite glowing promises of loyalty, is always on the lookout for new conquests. Anna Elisa suspects evil. Her husband, Prince Felice, and her brother, Emperor Napoleon himself, would like to chase Paganini from court. And anyway, says Paganini's agent, he should finally concentrate on his virtuoso career ...
The melancholy-dramatic architecture of the operetta is exemplary of the late stage work of Franz Lehár. Here not only the etiquette of a frozen aristocracy and the restless way of life of a traveling artist collide, but also ideas about true love happiness that could not be more different. The prima donna Bella Giretti and the valet Marchese Pimpinelli ensure this with wit and quick-wittedness. Lehár dresses all of this in longing melodies, disturbing harmonies and of course breakneck violin solos. In the 1940s, he was something of a storyteller of his own sounds. The Paganini radio play, which he conducted himself for Austrian Radio, gave the impetus for our semi-staged form at the Plauen-Zwickau Theater. We hope to touch you deeply with it even without visible contact.
