Et si la peau d’âne du célèbre conte dissimulait plus qu’une jeune fille bientôt amenée à révéler sa beauté et à devenir reine ? En revenant aux sources du mythe, cet opéra conté retrace l’avènement d’une femme qui se construit seule face aux obstacles.

Quand on évoque Peau d’âne, le conte de Charles Perrault est dans tous les esprits... mais pas dans celui de Jean-Jacques Fdida, qui signe le texte et la mise en scène de cette nouvelle adaptation. Comme pour d’autres contes célèbres (Cendrillon, Le Petit Chaperon rouge ou encore Barbe Bleue), il est revenu à la source de l’histoire de celle que l’on appelle aussi Peau-de-mille-bêtes ou Pé d’âne. Loin des versions édulcorées et de celle où la pression du père prend une large place, cette version met à l’honneur l’ambivalence qui jalonne tout parcours de vie : comment savoir quand une demande d’affection est trop grande ? Comment trouver l’équilibre entre ce que l’on ressent et les impératifs de l’institution sociale ?



Les trois interprètes créent un univers riche en couleurs au sein duquel le personnage de la jeune femme, porté par la chanteuse soprano Aurore Bucher, se forge face aux épreuves, en passant notamment par un état intense de sauvagerie. Les autres protagonistes, pris en charge par Jean-Jacques Fdida et Jean-Marie Machado, lui donnent la réplique sous forme contée ou chantée. Le tout porté par le piano de Jean-Marie Machado, qui puise la vivacité de sa musique dans des influences diverses (jazz, classique, musiques du monde) et dans un permanent esprit d’improvisation.

And if the donkey skin of the famous tale concealed more than a young girl soon to reveal her beauty and become queen? Returning to the sources of the myth, this storytelling opera retraces the advent of a woman who builds herself alone in the face of obstacles.

When we talk about Donkey Skin , Charles Perrault's tale is in everyone's mind... but not in that of Jean-Jacques Fdida, who signs the text and the staging of this new adaptation. As with other famous tales ( Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood or even Bluebeard ), he returned to the source of the story of the one that is also called Peau-de-mille-bêtes or Pé d'âne. Far from the watered-down versions and the one where the pressure of the father takes a large place, this version highlights the ambivalence that punctuates any course of life: how to know when a request for affection is too great? How to find the balance between what one feels and the imperatives of the social institution?



The three performers create a universe rich in colors in which the character of the young woman, carried by the soprano singer Aurore Bucher, is forged in the face of hardship, notably passing through an intense state of savagery. The other protagonists, supported by Jean-Jacques Fdida and Jean-Marie Machado, give him the answer in storytelling or sung form. All carried by the piano of Jean-Marie Machado, who draws the liveliness of his music from various influences (jazz, classical, world music) and from a permanent spirit of improvisation.
