Who doesn't know the story of the wooden doll that comes to life and whose nose grows when it lies? Before the runaway Pinocchio finds his way back to Father Geppetto and becomes a flesh-and-blood boy, he has to endure numerous adventures: he is robbed, almost freezes to death, frees himself from the clutches of a cruel ringmaster and survives a whale attack on the high seas. In November 2017, the Austrian premiere of the work by the versatile composer Pierangelo Valtinoni, which was not only written for a young audience but also contains numerous solo parts for children, took place at the Vienna Volksoper.
