The ensemble of the Prague National Theatre, Národní divadlo, will be magnificently complemented by Karita Mattila, one of the most important Janáček sopranos of her generation, singing the dramatic role of Kostelnička Buryjovka in Jenůfa for the first time in Finland.  

Few people can reinvent themselves in such a way that a career spanning more than forty years keeps going strong – but Karita Mattila, one of Finland’s most internationally successful opera singers of today and a two-time Grammy winner, is one of a kind. 

The grand opera concert will be conducted by Robert Jindra, music director of the Prague National Theatre. Among the featured artists alongside Mattila are soprano Alžběta Poláčková in the title role of Jenůfa and tenors Pavel Černoch and Aleš Briscein.   

The Covid pandemic meant that Karita’s gala concerts in 2020 were cancelled, but now we finally get to celebrate together. Be quick, last time tickets sold like hot cakes.   

In the summer of 2024 Karita Mattila will also make her debut in an opera at Savonlinna, appearing as Ortrud in Wagner’s Lohengrin.  

A CELEBRATION YEAR FOR CZECH MUSIC – A VISIT FROM THE PRAGUE NATIONAL THEATRE
2024 will mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Bedřich Smetana, the father of Czech classical music. The prestigious and renowned Prague National Theatre will bring to Olavinlinna Castle not only an opera concert but also two famous Czech grand operas, Smetana’s The Bartered Bride and Leoš Janáček’s Káťa Kabanová. The last week of July at Olavinlinna will be a true feast of Czech opera, so come and celebrate with us!

Prahan kansallisoopperan, Národní divadlon solistikunta täydentyy konsertissa upealla tavalla, kun Karita Mattila, eräs sukupolvensa merkittävimmistä Janáček-sopraanoista tulkitsee Jenufa-oopperan Kostelnička Buryjovkan dramaattista roolia, nyt ensi kertaa Suomessa.  

Vain harva pystyy uudistumaan niin, että yli 40-vuotinen ura jatkuu yhä vahvana – mutta kansainvälisesti menestyneimpiin suomalaisiin nykyoopperalaulajiin lukeutuva ja kahdesti Grammy-palkittu Karita Mattila onkin ainoa laatuaan. 
Suuren oopperakonsertin kapellimestarina on Prahan kansallisoopperan musiikillinen johtaja Robert Jindra. Mattilan lisäksi konsertissa kuullaan Jenufan nimiroolissa sopraano Alžběta Poláčková sekä mm. tenorit Pavel Černoch ja Aleš Briscein.  

Nopeimmille –5 % ennakkoetu lipusta marraskuun loppuun saakka (hintaryhmät 1–3). Alennus on otettu huomioon lippujen hinnoissa jo valmiiksi, eli et tarvitse etuhintaisten lippujenostoon koodia. Pandemia peruutti vuonna 2020 Karitan juhlakonsertit, mutta nyt vihdoin saamme juhlia yhdessä. Olethan nopea, viimeksi liput vietiin käsistä.  

Kesällä 2024 Karita Mattila tekee myös oopperadebyyttinsä Oopperajuhlilla. Hänet nähdään Ortrudina Wagnerin Lohengrinissa. 

TŠEKKILÄISEN MUSIIKIN JUHLAVUOSI – VIERAANA PRAHAN KANSALLISOOPPERA 
Vuonna 2024 tulee kuluneeksi 200 vuotta Tšekin klassisen musiikin isän, Bedřich Smetanan syntymästä. Arvostettu ja maineikas Prahan kansallisooppera tuo Olavinlinnaan oopperakonsertin lisäksi myös kaksi kuuluisaa tšekkiläisoopperaa, Smetanan Myyty morsian ja Leoš Janáčekin Katja Kabanova. Heinäkuun viimeinen viikko Olavinlinnassa tulee olemaan todellista tšekkioopperan riemujuhlaa, joten tulethan kanssamme juhlimaan!
