Premiere on August 9 at the Bolshoi Theater. The Bartered Bride, loved by generations of opera spectators, accompanied the Czech nation in times of good and evil. The New Theater in Pilsen also opened with the Bartered Bride in 2014, and two years ago the opera was staged on the occasion of the anniversary of the founding of the republic. So it is fitting that after a long break, the first performance is a new staging of this popular comic opera. The new production of The Bartered Bride was staged musically by conductor Jiří Štrunc, directed by Tomáš Ondřej Pilař, who will say goodbye to this ensemble at the head of the Pilsen Opera after six years.

Bedřich Smetana planted his most famous opera in the Pilsen region as a memory of his youth, and our stage processing will transport us to these places during the time when the master studied here, wandered in nature and experienced first loves. The stage will therefore be filled with authentic costumes, an adult and children's choir, a large ballet dancing regional folk dances and, of course, soloists - exclusively Pilsen - led by Thalia Award winner Ivana Veberová as Mařenka and our domestic soloist Amir Khan as Jeník.

The new production of The Bartered Bride will be musically staged by conductor Jiří Štrunc and directed by Tomáš Ondřej Pilař, who will say goodbye to this ensemble at the head of the Pilsen Opera after six years.

This production will be the first performance by which the theater will start operating after the coronavirus epidemic and will be a thank you to our spectators who stayed with us despite this difficult period.
