Opera allows you to get to know the failures of a successful artist's life. Hoffmann remembers when he was truly in love: with the graceful Olympia, who turned out to be a scientific invention rather than a living woman; in the gravely ill Antonia, who was killed by her passion for vocal art; and in the courtesan Juliet, whose interest in Hoffmann was selfish and fleeting. Hoffman is convinced that Stella, whom he is madly in love with at the moment, is the ideal woman, as she combines the best qualities of Olympia, Antonia and Juliet.

Jacques Offenbach's "Hoffmann Stories" are based on E. T. A. Hoffmann's stories, which play out love fantasies and true love, allowing the composer to create a rich musical score. The fifth production of "Hofman's Tales" is being staged at the Latvian National Opera under the musical direction of French maestro Frédéric Chaslin. In the version of director Aik Karapetyan, this opera will be an excitingly fun and visual adventure with beautiful music.

Opera ļauj iepazīt veiksmīga mākslinieka dzīves neveiksmes. Hofmanis atceras gadījumus, kad ir bijis patiesi iemīlējies: graciozajā Olimpijā, kas izrādījās zinātnisks izgudrojums, nevis dzīva sieviete; smagi slimajā Antonijā, kuru nogalināja viņas aizraušanās ar vokālo mākslu; un kurtizānē Džuljetā, kuras interese par Hofmani bija savtīga un ātri gaistoša. Hofmanis ir pārliecināts, ka Stella, kuru viņš neprātīgi mīl šobrīd, ir ideālā sieviete, jo apvieno sevī Olimpijas, Antonijas un Džuljetas labākās īpašības.

Žaka Ofenbaha “Hofmaņa stāsti” tapuši pēc E. T. A. Hofmaņa stāstu motīviem, kas izspēlē mīlas iedomas un patiesu mīlestību, komponistam ļaujot radīt bagātīgu muzikālo partitūru. Latvijas Nacionālajā operā “Hofmaņa stāstu” piektais iestudējums top franču maestro Frederika Šaslēna (Frédéric Chaslin) muzikālajā vadībā. Režisora Aika Karapetjana versijā šī opera būs aizraujoši jautrs un vizuāls piedzīvojums ar skaistu mūziku.
